Job Title: Senior JAVA Engineer
Location (City): Jersey City, NJ
Job Description:
We are looking for a result-oriented, proactive, and creative individual to be part of our strong software engineering team. This individual will play an active role in all aspects of software development, from functional walkthroughs, technical designs, and implementations to release. Requires 5+ years of software development experience on Internet commerce applications using Java, SQL, and J2EE technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as a high degree of abstract reasoning and the ability to develop concepts into elegant, solid solutions.
Core Responsibilities:
• Lead the technical design effort of various projects for CarRentals.com’s e-commerce application, ensuring that the design is well documented and meets scalability and performance requirements
• Lead and participate in the implementation (e.g., coding, testing, debugging) effort
• Ensure adherence to engineering processes such as code reviews, source control, unit testing, use case analysis, defect management
• Present technical issues and their business impact to management
• May need to interface with 3rd parties on technical designs and issues
• Actively mentor software engineers technically
• Provide support for production issues
Requirements:
• Solid experience with object-oriented framework and design
• Strong proficiency in the J2EE APIs, particularly Java-based application servers (e.g. Orion Server BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere) with EJBs, servlets, and JSP
• Proficiency with SQL and MySQL databases
• Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas and to design and document projects in a clear, concise way
• Ability to write clean, coherent code, and to follow established coding style guidelines.
• BS and/or MS in Computer Science or Engineering
• Result-oriented, proactive, and showing overall leadership quality
• Experience at other fast-paced Internet companies, especially Travel companies, a big plus
• Recent experience building highly scalable Internet system a big plus
